EASTON — A 28-year-old woman has been accused of assaulting her boyfriend and stealing his car outside Easton Plaza Laundromat on Friday, June 26.
Officers from the Easton Police Department responded to the laundromat for a reported “unwanted person.” When they arrived the officers found the woman’s boyfriend, who told police she assaulted him. He said he told the woman he was going to call police, and she allegedly stole his car and fled the area.
Officers located the woman, identified as Shanell Lewis-Williams, using iPhone tracking technology. Officers provided the location data to surrounding jurisdictions and the car Lewis-Williams was driving was stopped by the Maryland State Police after a short vehicle pursuit.
Lewis-Williams was then taken to the Easton Police Department, where she was charged with motor vehicle theft and second-degree assault.
She was later released on a $5,000 unsecured bond, according to online court records. A trial is scheduled for 9:15 a.m. Sept. 2, 2020.
