EASTON — An accidental fire destroyed a 31-ft. recreational vehicle alongside U.S. Route 50 west on Thursday, July 23, according to the Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office.
A passing motorist reported the fire in the 2003 Fleetwood Terra RV about 6:28 p.m., the fire marshal’s report said. Easton Volunteer Fire Department responded.
It took 25 firefighters 52 minutes to control the fire in the RV, which was owned by Edmond Seebode, the fire marshal’s report said. Damages to the vehicle were estimated at $5,000 with damages to the contents estimated at $300.
The investigation found “the vehicle was in operation along U.S. Route 50 when a mechanical failure caused a fire within the interior of the RV,” according to the fire marshal’s office. The fire was ruled accidental.
The fire marshal’s office was requested when the fire department was unable to locate the operator. Seebode was later located without any injuries, the fire marshal’s report said.
