PRESTON — The Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating a March 9 fire that destroyed an outbuilding in Preston.
The fire at 5100 Frazier Neck Road did an estimated $80,000 in damages to structure and contents of the 24' x 60' wood frame outbuilding owned by Sammy Swann, investigators said. The fire was discovered by a family member at 3:12 a.m. The outbuilding had no smoke alarm or sprinkler system.
Under the command of Preston Volunteer Fire Company, 30 firefighters contained the fire in about 45 minutes. Investigators said the fire started inside the building.
Seven cats and one lamb are unaccounted for at the location of the fire.
