The Talbot County Council will be briefed on state transportation projects and priorities at a meeting on Oct. 20.

EASTON — The Talbot County Council will hold a joint meeting with the Maryland Department of Transportation on Tuesday, Oct. 20.

Maryland Secretary of Transportation Greg Slater – will brief county officials and residents on the state’s annual transportation plans.

The virtual meeting starts at 3:00 p.m. It also comes as state and regional officials looks at short and long-term issues related to the Bay Bridge.

Recent suicide attempts and threatened suicide attempts on the Bay Bridge have resulted in miles-long and hours-long traffic jams. The attempts have also highlighted the mental health crisis created by the stresses and isolations fo the COVID-19 pandemic and its economic and social fallouts.

State transportation funding and priorities could also be impacted by the coronavirus’ impacts on the economy, tax revenue and budgets.
