STEVENSVILLE — Maryland State Police are investigating an apparent suicide in the parking lot of a local business early Wednesday, Oct. 10.

Police responded shortly after midnight to a 911 call reporting a man laying in the parking lot of Rams Head Shore House, 800 Main St., Stevensville.

Troopers found a deceased man with a gunshot wound lying near a white passenger vehicle in the rear parking lot of the business, police said. One .38-caliber revolver was found next to him.

Investigators from the MSP Criminal Enforcement Division Upper Shore responded. They identified the man as Michael Gancie, 61, of Stevensville. He had a self-inflicted gunshot wound to his chest, investigators said.

Troopers notified Gancie’s next of kin. The investigation is ongoing.
