EASTON — The Easton Town Council, during its Jan. 6 meeting, unanimously voted to postpone its next meeting to Monday, Feb. 3.

“We are faced with conflicts on the next council meeting is scheduled for a national holiday,” Acting Council President Ron Engle said. “All council members have a conflict the next night, and we have limited agenda items. So we are proposing the next council meeting until Feb. 3”

Ward 4 Councilwoman Megan Cook said the 14th annual Martin Luther King Jr. Youth Basketball Classic will take place during the holiday on Monday, Jan. 20.

Doors will open at 8 am at Easton Middle School and the Easton Family YMCA. The Talbot County Community Center will join forces with local law enforcement, organizations and businesses to provide a fun, unified environment for youth. Each participant will receive a shirt, gift and free lunch.

“(Easton) Mayor (Robert Willey) will be there in the morning to do the tip-off,” Cook said.
