ANNAPOLIS (AP) — Anne Arundel County police said someone shot the window of a cruiser as officers responded to a report of an armed person in a suburb of Annapolis.

When officers arrived in the area of Hilltop Road and Blue Ridge Drive in the Cape Saint Claire area on Monday morning, police said one of their windows was shot. No one was hurt and the shooter is still at large, police said in a tweet.

Police asked people in the area to shelter in place.

Students and staff at two nearby schools are sheltering in place, meaning no one is entering or leaving the buildings, but classes are continuing, county schools spokesman Bob Mosier said by telephone. He stressed that neither school is involved in the incident.
