TILGHMAN — It was an island holiday celebration with the lighting of the giant crab pot tree and boats covered with beautiful lights moving through Knapps Narrows on Tilghman Saturday evening, Dec. 14.

The evening began with a cocktail party for the adults at the Characters Bridge Restaurant, and cocoa and cookies with Santa for kids at Phillips Wharf Environmental Center.

After a countdown, the giant tree made of crab pots on the PWEC campus was lit, and the crowd moved over to the dock to watch the boat parade.

The drawbridge was opened, and a line of lighted boats, including the rescue boat from the Tilghman Volunteer Fire Company, lit up the waters of Knapps Narrows.

Immediately after the boat parade, a live auction and awards ceremony at Character’s Bridge Restaurant netted about $7,000 which was donated to the fire company.

Auction items included an original painting by a local artist, a custom oyster knife and NFL tickets.
