EASTON — Barbara Jane Hofheins Lavin died Thursday, July 11, 2019, in Easton, MD. She was born February 27, 1934, in Buffalo, NY.
Succeeding her are her beloved children, Robert Charles, Peter Craig, Michael Douglas and his wife Nancy McKernan, and Laurel Mary; grandchildren, Elizabeth Ward, Mary Katherine, John Charles, Nicholas Craig, Brent Marshall, Rebecca Marie, Grace Cathleen, Mary Elizabeth, Henry William, Robert Brewster, Jeremy Philip II, Elizabeth Ward, and Jeffrey Adam and his wife, Nichole Marie.
She was preceded in death by her devoted and loving husband, Commander Charles V. Lavin; and her parents Robert Franklin and Mary Ward Hofheins.
Barbara graduated from the Buffalo Seminary School for Girls. She received her undergraduate degree from Cornell University, a graduate degree from the University of Jacksonville, and a law degree from the University of Richmond.
In her youth, Barbara was a competitive figure skater, and enjoyed curling in her later years. She was a passionate lawyer, establishing a successful solo practice in juvenile and family law. Barbara was a true outdoorswoman who loved spending time at her family’s Adirondack camp in Cranberry Lake, NY. Above all, she was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, who took great pride in her family. She was dearly loved and will be sorely missed.
A burial will be held at Arlington National Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest with her husband.
