CHESTER — Frederick Binger Beane, Jr. of Chester, MD passed away on Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis, MD. He was 81.
Born on August 2, 1936 in Washington, DC, the son of the late Frederick Beane, Sr. and Evelyn Louise Beall Beane. He was a graduate of Bladensburg High School, Class of 1954 and began working in the Washington DC court system as a bailiff and ascending to a clerk of the superior court.
He was one of five that obtained that position and spent 40 years there for his career.
In retirement he was the owner and operator of Fred’s Grapevine, Beano Coffee and Bagel and Dockside Cafe. He was a member of the Kent Island Yacht Club and enjoyed boating, landscaping his yard, dancing and spending time with his family and friends.
Fred is survived by his two sons, Gregory A. Beane (Audra) of Royal Oak, MD and Jeffrey A. Beane (Kendall) of Stevensville, MD; two daughters, Kimberly A. Beane (Dean) of Chester, MD and Sheri A. Poretz (Lewis) of Lothian, MD; grandchildren, Patrick, Kaitlin, Christina, Austin, Andrew, Eric, Alex and Megan; step grandchildren, Matthew, Spencer, Lauren, Lance and Justin; two great-grandchildren, Mason and Lilianna.
He was predeceased by his wife, Ruth Ann Beane and his long-time companion, Pat Kellum.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, June 10, 2018 from 3-5 p.m. at the Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home, P.A. in Chester, MD.
A service will be held on Monday, June 11, 2018 at 11 a.m. at the Kent Island United Methodist Church in Chester, MD.
Burial will be held privately at Fort Lincoln Cemetery.
