In response to Chris Thomas’ open letter to TCPS, I believe there is a bit of confusion here. According to the county and state experts (those folks with the title Doctor before their names), the county has three viable options to choose from, not just two. Only one of the plans that Chris mentioned is actually under consideration.

As far as the intimation that our schools are day care providers for school age children, I believe that if our educators are little more than day care workers they are failing their mission, their community and their students. Their job has been and continues to be to grow children into young adults by giving them the skills they need to survive and thrive in the world around them. Our county officials have some tough decisions to make and very little time left to make them in. But, I am confident that they will look to the safety of the children and the staff as their highest priority.
