Anyone riding on Route 33 between Sherwood and Tilghman during the last two weeks I'm sure has seen the trucks of Affordable Tree Service clearing limbs and brush away from electric and phone lines.
These trees and bushes didn't grow wild there. They were planted by the property owners. Every two or three years, the state of Maryland contracts with one of the tree service companies to do this work. The work is paid for with state tax dollars and costs the property owner nothing.
This has to change. Every owner along this stretch of road and throughout Talbot County should be held responsible for the maintenance of trees they planted under utility lines. I think most of our residents would like to see their tax dollars go toward some better project than this.
