Democrats have forgotten or dismissed Bill Clinton's 1995 State of the Union Address in which he said, "We are rightfully disturbed by the number of illegal aliens entering our Country in recent years." He regretted the services provided to them, taking away jobs from our citizens and legal immigrants and imposing a burden on our taxpayers. He stated: "We have to ban welfare benefits to illegal aliens." He concluded: "It is wrong and self defeating to permit the abuse of our Immigration Laws we have seen in recent years and we must stop it."
Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer deny there is a crisis at our southern border, yet in May alone, 144,000 immigrants were arrested at our border. Representative Ocasio-Cortez inexplicably contends we are running concentration camps. During the Holocaust, 6 million Jews were brutalized, starved and murdered. AOC doesn't understand the elementary difference between Nazi Germany and Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Department of Homeland Security and Border Patrol being overwhelmed, understaffed and unable to accommodate over 100,000 illegal immigrants per month in need of housing, food and medical assistance.
It's estimated that illegal immigrants are imposing a $116 billion burden on our economy and taxpayers each year, which far exceeds the cost of a wall/barrier. It is also noteworthy that Chuck Schumer, Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton (then senators) supported and voted for the Secure Fence Act of 2006, providing for 700 miles of fencing along the southern border. Now we have the King County Executive (Seattle) threatening to pull county contracts from all companies who fuel ICE aircraft. He certainly has the best interest of our country and his county at heart, as Seattle has one of the worst homeless problems in the country, crime is skyrocketing and drug gangs are moving into Seattle.
John Kennedy implored us: "Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country." It's shameful that so many politicians are only interested in partisan decisions, rather than what is best for American citizens and legal immigrants.
