The United States continues to abuse and neglect numbers of children on our Southern border. This is unconscionable and there can be no excuse for such systematized behavior. Within our borders it is a crime to abuse and neglect children. I defy anyone to give a valid reason for so doing.

Local pediatricians have attempted to attend to those children and have encountered resistance (CNN, 07/03/2019). One pediatrician found evidence of “...infection, malnutrition and psychological trauma.” (The Atlantic, 07/03/2019). Citizens have brought supplies such as diapers and soap to the camps and they have been refused because it is apparently against the law for the Border Patrol to accept donations (The Texas Tribune, 06/24/2019). All the while officials have excused their mistreatment of children by claiming “insufficient funds.” We apparently have millions of dollars for fighter jet fly-bys but not pennies for these children.

From the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services website:

“Texas has both civil and criminal laws to protect children from abuse and neglect. If you suspect that a child is being abused or neglected, the law requires that you report it. [Texas Family Code Section 261.101 (a)]”

Has this abuse and neglect been reported? If not, why not? Have there been any arrests? We are supposedly a nation of laws but if laws have been broken and there is no accounting, our Republic is in great danger of coming apart at the seams.
