EASTON — APG Media of Chesapeake, which publishes The Star Democrat, has promoted three associates in the sales and marketing departments.
Paul Hagood has been named chief revenue officer for APG Media of Chesapeake, The Star Democrat’s parent company.

He possesses a highly intellectual business acumen focused on client solutions,” said Jim Normandin, president of APG Media of Chesapeake. “Paul has proven his leadership skills align keenly with our solution-based operating culture, and that’s a chemistry that our customers will benefit from. Simply put, I am proud to work by Paul’s side, and we are blessed to have him leading our sales and marketing teams throughout Maryland, Delaware, northern Virginia and Washington, D.C. We are all better for it.”
Hagood had been serving as interim chief revenue officer since January.

Hagood has been development manager for NXC Media, a subsidiary of APG Media of Chesapeake, for two years. He began working at The Star Democrat in Easton in September 2015 as a project coordinator, which included work on the Brighter Christmas Fund.
Hagood has a bachelor’s degree in international business from the Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland, College Park, and a Chinese language certification from the Beijing Language and Culture University.
He is a member of the board of directors for the Brighter Christmas Fund, graduated from Shore Leadership with the class of 2017 and is a member of Families with Children from China — Capital Area.
Hagood and his wife, Jessica, a first-grade teacher at Easton Elementary School, live in Easton.
Betsy Griffin has been named executive director of advertising for APG Media of Chesapeake, and Tyler Edwards has been named digital operations supervisor of NXC Media.
“Tyler and Betsy are absolute superstars for our organization, and their promotions are well deserved,” Hagood said. “Their dedication to our community partners and clients is integral to our success and represents the very best of what we stand for as a company.”
Griffin has worked at The Star Democrat’s parent company for nine years, serving as sales manager, regional sales training manager, and regional advertising and marketing sales director
Griffin has a bachelor’s degree in health care adminstration from Mary Baldwin College in Staunton, Va. She spent 0` years marketing specialty orthopaedic hospitals in Richmond, Va., and physician practice management groups in the Tidewater Virginia area. She arrived in Easton after working seven years in progressive roles at The Charlottesville Daily Progress, Central Virginia Newspaper Group, a Media General Company.
Griffin serves as president of the Talbot County YMCA advisory board and graduated 2016 class of Shore Leadership. She has a son, August, serving as a medic in the U.S. Army stationed at Ft. Carson, Colorado Springs, and a daughter, Kate, a sophomore at Easton High, who enjoys playing field hockey and tennis. Griff, Betsy’s husband, manages the local West Marine store.
Edwards started with The Star Democrat in 2014 as a digital customer care/IT specialist in the IT department before transferring over to NXC Media as a creative media specialist in 2018.
His primary responsibility in this new role will be managing the day-to-day operations of NXC Media, a thriving and forward-thinking solutions company headquartered in Maryland.
Edwards has lived on the Eastern Shore his entire life and currently lives in Trappe with his wife Diana and their son Samuel. They are excitedly expecting their second child in December.
